Leszek Piotrowski, known professionally as “Lesstro,” is an internationally renowned realist painter. He was born on December 19, 1984, in Gdynia, Poland. In 2009, he graduated from the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw with a Master’s degree in painting.
Lesstro specializes in figurative, classical painting and feels most at home working on large—even monumental—canvases. His work reflects the timelessness and vitality of the great classical traditions. His artistic focus includes historical and genre scenes, Orientalist subjects, female nudes, portraits, and horses.
Although very young, the artist has already achieved significant success at the international art scene
HONG KONG - still being the student, in 2009 he got Golden Trophy Award at World’s Nude Show
in Hong Kong, where his paintings were displayed among world renowned artists from 19th century.
He has been highly regarded also by European, American and Chinese art experts and professionals :
ITALY : he got twice 1st Prize in International Painting Competition “ Natale di Roma “ ( 2009,2010 ), in 2011 he was awarded with Jury President Prize of this Competition. In 2011 he was also awarded with 1st Prize in the XI Memorial “ Antonello da Messina “, Sicily.
SPAIN : in 2010 Lesstro was selected as finalist of 5th International Figurative Painting and Sculpture Competition by Foundation of Arts and Artists in Barcelona. In 2011 his painting of horse was selected as promotional image of “ Horsepower” Exhibition , sponsored by BMW, Spain.
RUSSIA : in April/May 2016 the artist participated in the exhibition Russian Art Week in Moscow – where he got 2nd Award in Russian Art Week – nomination: “ Nude Aesthetic” , 2nd Award in Art Portrait Club 2nd International Festival in Moscow- nomination : “Classical Portrait”.
USA : in 2012 his horse painting was selected as the finalist of the VI International Equine Art Competition, by Ex Arte Equinus, USA . In 2014 and in 2019 he was invited by NTD (New Tang Dynasty Television ) to New York to exhibit his paintings in the prestigious New York gallery “ Salmagundi Club’’ – as finalist of International Figure Painting Competition by NTD TV. In 2016 Lesstro got 1st Award in American Art Awards – Hollywood – nomination : Painting “ Impressionism Animal” .
In 2017 Lesstro was admitted by American Art Renewal Centre, New York as Associated Living Master.
GERMANY : in 2017 Lesstro was invited to exhibit 3 of his classical realism paintings at prestigious NORD ART Exhibition in Budelsdorf.
CHINA : in 2017 and in 2019 Lesstro was invited to participate in the International Art Biennale in Beijing . His painting “ Spices of Arabia “ in 2017 was displayed in the main, round hall of National Museum of Chin, alongside the greatest, contemporary Chinese masters – this way Jury recognized polish artist.
During Biennale 2019 Lesstro was invited to pay a visit at the greatest Chinese Fine Art Academy Hebei Academy of Arts where he was offered to undertake a job as art professor. By the stay in the Academy Lesstro made a portrait of famous Chinese artist painter and at the same time President of Hebei Academy – Zhen Zhongyi, pen name TANGWA – creator of famous Chinese “ Misty School “ of art.
GREAT BRITAIN : in 2019 , 2020 and 2022 Lesstro made next success ; he was finalist of Wildlife Artist of the Year. His paintings “ Polar Bear’’ and “Bubas” were exhibited in 2019 and in 2022 in the prestigious Mall Galleries in London. Due to pandemia in 2020 his painting “ White Lion’’ was exhibited online.
Lesstro has been featured in numerous magazines and art publications, including Spanish “Llei D’Art”, Italian : “ Annuario d’Arte Contemporanea, American “ Annual Book of International Equine Art “, “ I SEGNALATI” – Great Book of Contemporary Painting Masters – translated in 5 languages and distributed in major world’s museum ( Louvre, Tate, Hermitage, Prado, etc ). In 2013 TuttoArabi, world-wide Arabian Horse Magazine , Milano, Italy published 6 pages publication on Lesstro’s career and his horse paintings. In 2015 he was included as special guest in Spanish Annuario “ Arte y Libertad X” and published also in “ Epoch Times” , USA.
Lesstro’s artworks have been exhibited in prestigious galleries throughout Europe, Middle East, Asia, Canada. They are held in the collections of MEAM – European Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, Baoqu Tang Gallery of Art in Hong Kong, prestigious Fine Art Gallery GRONERT in Munich, Germany, they can be also find in private collections in Dubai, Hong Kong, Poland, Germany, Great Britain.
